The Downs & South West Queensland Law Association was originally established in its present form in 1937. In fact, the Association is a little piece of history all on its own, as it is the oldest Law Association of Queensland. The Association is said to have been established in the late 19th Century; however, fell off the radar in the early 20th Century. Eventually, the Association was restarted in 1937 and has remained in operation since that time.
The Association prides itself on being an integral part of the legal community on the Darling Downs and in South Western Queensland.
The Association provides its members with an array of events which focus on both networking and education through professional development programs and courses. The Association organises regular continuing legal education seminars since 2015, as well as assisting to run the Toowoomba Intensive of the Queensland Law Society CLE program.
Benefits for members include invitations to social events within the region, including our annual events which consists of the Cocktail Party, Charity Golf Day, Law Ball & Awards Night and the end of year Christmas function. Further, members have access to attend the professional development programs and courses, as well as being able to access educational material and updates

Downs and South West Queensland Law Association (DSWQLA)
PO Box 924, Toowoomba, Queensland, 4350
DSWQLA respectfully acknowledge the ongoing care and dedication the Jarowair, and Giabal people of the Wakka Wakka Nation devote to their country, air, and waterways with great patience and enduring, unbreakable resilience. We celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations and communities who also work and live on the lands we are privileged to now work and live on. As a legal association we pay specific respect to the law women and law men who for tens of thousands of years have ensured the peace, order and good governance of this place, long before it became known as the Darling Downs.
