The annual Law Ball, a sophisticated black-tie affair held during an elegant dinner, is a hallmark event on our calendar. Distinguished by the presence of esteemed members of the judiciary, this gala evening is graced by high-profile personalities, with a keynote speech. In recent years, we have been honoured to have Chief Judge of the District Court, His Honour Judge Devereaux SC, impart his words of wisdom.
In a proud tradition of collaboration with the Queensland Law Society, the Law Ball serves as a platform to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our long standing members. Notably, we come together to honour those individuals who have reached the impressive mile stone of 25 and 50 years of membership of QLS. The evening is marked by a special presentation to celebrate and present these members with their membership pins, symbolising their enduring commitment to the legal profession and the Association.

DSWQLA respectfully acknowledge the ongoing care and dedication the Jarowair, and Giabal people of the Wakka Wakka Nation devote to their country, air, and waterways with great patience and enduring, unbreakable resilience. We celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations and communities who also work and live on the lands we are privileged to now work and live on. As a legal association we pay specific respect to the law women and law men who for tens of thousands of years have ensured the peace, order and good governance of this place, long before it became known as the Darling Downs.
